Food, family reunion and the colour red are synonymous with Lunar New Year celebrations for Asian communities. Asian Events Trust is bringing New Year celebrations back to Courtenay Place, the place where Wellington’s first Chinese New Year Festival was held in 2001.
Sssip & Sssavor – 29 January to 16 February
Celebrate the Lunar New Year, by indulging in the best eating and drinking experiences Wellington has to offer. Over the festival period, Courtenay Precinct venues are painting the town red, coming together to present a drink and/or dish inspired by the colour red, the snake or the Lunar New Year in their menu.
Get together with your friends and family for a night out in Courtenay Precinct, sipping drinks and savoring bites from our Paint the Town Red venues.
Paint the Town Red venue coming soon.
Sssidewalk Sssideshow – 1 February, 6pm to 9pm
Firecrackers, street performers and music will bring Courtenay Precinct to life. This will be a fantastic celebration for families, foodies, or festival goers. The night will finish with a fireworks display that will paint the night sky red on Wellington’s waterfront.
