A celebration of visual arts and dance. Visual art featuring imagery of the dragon by Kerry Ann Lee, Guy Ngan, Stan Chan and Sam Rawlings as well as a stone sculpture by Brett Keno provide the inspiration for performances of song and dance to welcome in the Year of the Dragon. 

Enter the Dragon is a curated programme of performance works to open Festival Day, setting the scene for a colourful and rich cultural entertainment programme by local community groups and performing artists. See Festival Day Cultural Entertainment here

The programme includes a painting of a dragon on stage by Wellington’s much-loved Chinese calligrapher and brush painter Stan Chan, and performances by Tarrant Dancers, Lara Strong, Aaron and Kristina Lee and the Wellington Chinese Sports and Cultural Centre. The programme also includes screening of a dance theatre film inspired by the Dragon by Arts Laureate Daniel Belton and the team at Good Company Arts.
